Join us for MarinePlan 3D workshop!
MarinePlan invites all GES4SEAS colleagues to join in on their workshop about a R-based tool designed to revolutionize 3D systematic conservation planning.
MarinePlan is hosting an upcoming workshop on a groundbreaking R-based tool designed to revolutionize 3D systematic conservation planning. Recognizing the importance of conservation planning tools in supporting Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM), as identified in GES4SEAS’ WP2, they extend a warm invitation, not only to the MarinePlan community, but also to all interested GES4SEAS colleagues.
Scheduled for Monday, 26 February, from 11:00 to 13:00 CET, this workshop promises a comprehensive introduction to the new tool, highlighting its potential to enhance conservation efforts through advanced 3D prioritization approaches.
The session will kick off with a brief introduction by Stelios Katsanevakis, outlining the workshop’s scope and objectives, followed by insights into the Decision Support Toolbox architecture and its tools by Antonios Mazaris. Aggeliki Doxa and Nikos Nagkoulis will delve into the advantages and limitations of 3D versus 2D prioritization approaches and demonstrate the 3Dprior function in R, showcasing its practical applications.
After a short coffee break, the workshop will resume with a demonstration of the user-friendly 3Dprior Shiny App by Christos Adam, discussions on available datasets within the consortium, and identified needs. The event will conclude with an open forum for final discussions and insights, paving the way for future common analyses and possible publications.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be at the forefront of conservation planning. Mark your calendars and join us for an enlightening session that promises to deepen your understanding and skills in applying advanced tools for marine conservation.
