Internal CIMPAL Workshop on the 2nd of February 2024

The internal CIMPAL workshop aims to address the impacts of invasive alien species in marine ecosystems through a new webservice facilitating the CIMPAL index workflow.

February 2nd 2024 marks the hosting of the internal CIMPAL workshop, aligned with the objectives of Task 5.2, of GES4SEAS project. This workshop, representing a collaboration between GES4SEAS and Life Watch ERIC, is set to be a pivotal training session focusing on the cumulative impact of invasive alien species in marine ecosystems.

Central to the workshop is the utilization of a new webservice, designed to facilitate the CIMPAL index workflow. This innovative tool, a result of a collaboration with LifeWatch ERIC’s Internal Joint Initiative, involves contributions from researchers across various national nodes of LifeWatch. The development of this webservice marks a significant advancement in the study and management of invasive species impacts on marine ecosystems.

Scheduled from 9 AM to 12:30 PM CET, the workshop is tailored to meet the needs of the GES4SEAS HEU project partners, especially those involved in the Learning Sites and those contributing to the development and implementation of the GES4SEAS toolbox. Additionally, members of the GES4SEAS Practitioner Advisory Board (PAB), particularly those interested in Regional Sea Conventions, Member States, and the European Environment Agency (EEA), are the primary audience.

The workshop also extends its invitation to partners from Horizon Europe sister projects like ACTNOW, who participated in the previous IAS 2023 workshop in Athens, as well as to select external researchers engaged in CIMPAL testing and development. This inclusion ensures a comprehensive approach to tackling the challenges posed by invasive alien species.

The upcoming CIMPAL workshop promises to be an invaluable experience for all participants, offering hands-on training and insights into tackling one of the pressing issues in marine ecosystem management.
