Calling all blue athletes!
Join the Blue Schools Olympics
GES4SEAS project is happy to announce its endorsement of the inaugural edition of the Blue Schools Olympics. This global event, set to happen from May 19 to 26, 2024, aims to foster a deeper connection between young minds and marine conservation through a series of physical activities linked to the sea.
Originating from the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente school in Los Nietos, Spain, the Blue Schools Olympics will not focus on competition but rather on learning and appreciation for our ocean. Participating schools from around the world, including Namibia, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil, will contribute traditional beach games from their regions, blending physical activity with lessons in environmental care. Activities planned range from beach clean-ups to traditional beach sports like volleyball, all designed to highlight the importance of the oceans and beaches.
The GES4SEAS project supports this initiative as part of its broader mission to promote societal understanding of marine ecosystem functioning through ocean literacy. By involving schools worldwide, the event aims to make a lasting impact on young participants, shaping future generations of environmentally conscious citizens.
We encourage educational institutions worldwide to join this pioneering effort. To register or learn more about the Blue Schools Olympics, visit this page.
Let’s come together to make the Blue Schools Olympics a cornerstone event for environmental education and a testament to global unity for the care of our seas.
